Update

I've finally stopped lurking and decided to come back here, now that I have more time. Here's a little update on the bettas:

3 of the 4 girls in the 10g community died. The Petcetera heater melted through the rubber suction cup holders, and I think it released some toxins into the tank, because the girls died suddenly, and without any syptoms. Lesson: DON'T SCRIMP ON HEATERS!! (Advice I wish I had followed before this.)

The melano boy no longer has fin rot, but he keeps biting his tail. Everyone else is doing fine, although I haven't gotten around to planting the 2.5g divided tanks.

I sometimes give myself nightmares trying to think of all the things that could go wrong with my tanks and what I'd do if I came down to a tank of dead fish
