I am sure Symon would take being said to look like Pickle as a compliment! He is being strange today. He's been eating one of my plants and inside his mouth is all green. lol I am not sure he knows where the water is though. he only seems to eat sprays of millet as well.
He also chitters to himself a lot and sometimes sounds like he needs exorcised! He makes cute chippers and then will squalk! Is this normal? Does he miss his friends from the pet shop
I will be getting him a feathered friend soon but I wanted him to be more tame first.
Speaking of taming... how do you go about this? He won't sit on my finger if I put it in the cage, he just flaps around. Maybe it's because he can leave whenever he wants? Hmmm.

well,
budgies are are very demanding little birds
chances are your little symon wants interation and effection but is unsure how to go about it since he is used to feathered friends
they can be VERY noisy as i found out with pickle
if he isn't out constantley no matter how big a cage, how many treats, toys and mirrors he has he will still sqwak
i had to learn to tune pickle out or i would not be able to go to work or do ANYTHING
and believe me getting him a friend, athough symon will be happy will not make him quiet
they are like irritating little kids who, dispite the fact the are right beside one another, feel they have to yell to be heard
they will constantly chirp back and fourth
if symon is store bought (which i believe you said he is) then this will slow down the taming process
don't rush into anything as he will be exceptionally skittery
start off just placing your hands in his cage
then once he stops flopping around and relaxes, speak softly and eventually after doing this exercise several times daily you will be able to move close enough to perch him (only move forward when he is comfortable with how close you are)
the first time you perch him do not move your hand
after a few times you may move it slightly forward and back
chances are the first time you do, he will flip out and want off
after a while you will be able to move him around the cage
once he is comfortable with this, perch him and move him in and out the door (and so on)
its alot of time, work and patience but if you are dedicated enough and hold off on getting him a friend you will be rewarded with a beautifully hand tamed bird
