well, whatever i've been doing is working because deuce is back to his normal dark body color. i only saw the faintest of stress lines this morning when i turned on his light and none last night. he's eating like a pig 
and isn't darting back & forth any longer. i am still adding malachite green to his tank but not every day. it doesn't actually say how long or how often to add it but when the ick was noticeable on his body i was doing it every day after water changes. now that the ick isn't on his body any longer i've only been dosing him every other day-don't want to overdose him! and i do think now that the meds were stressing him because now that he went a full day with no meds his stress lines are pretty much gone. yay! thanks for all the help & advice everyone.
