There is one thread that I really don't like (should be closed IMO), I feel intimidated by it and so I unsubscribed from it and I still get these unwanted notifications.

I'll report it. What about the nuisance notifications from it?
Did you use the unwatch button at top of thread (blue button).
I think you should report it - if it doesn't go away, then re open your question.

For me, as soon as I respond to a thread it automatically "watches" the thread for me. @Salty&Onion, do you have this feature turned off in your settings?

I suppose so.
Mine does that too. Still, unfollowing it should stop that.
