I replaced a couple plants yesterday, and I noticed several ghost shrimp in the bag after I took the plants out. I'm nearly positive that's what they are, anyway. I called the LFS, and that's the only fresh water shrimp they carry, and they're kept in the same tank as the plants, the employee was supposed to check for them.

They're in the quarantine tank with the plants right now, I'm pretty sure there's three, maybe four. I dropped some food in the tank to see if it'll lure them out in the open.

They aren't entirely unwelcome, since they've been cool to watch so far (and hey, free's free), but I'm not sure how they'd fare in my tank. I have a blue panchax. Would he eat the shrimp? He's the only fish I think could have a try at them, and despite being a top swimmer, he likes the shrimp pellets I feed my cories, and goes to the bottom a lot at feeding time.

Its not a fish i have experience of but the general rule is if the shrimp will fit in the fishes mouth it will end up as food eventually as most fish would eat them in the wild. Ghost shrimp are bigger than dwarf shrimp (like cherrys) so may well be ok.

I'm sure he wont connect the shrimp with the tasty pellets he eats, at least not straight away as they look totally different :p

I wasn't worried that he'd connect the two, only that the pellets would bring him into close contact with the shrimp, since they seem to be picking at it.

The panchax is a killifish. He's about full grown, just over 3 inches. The shrimp don't look like they'd fit in his mouth, but since he's never had anything to hunt bigger than blackworms, I don't know how far he can open it.
