Unheated Bettas

I know some of you keep bettas in unheated tanks, is this ok in the UK where it gets colder, or is this only in warmer countries?

I live in Texas where it usually stays pretty warm. During cold spells I just turn up the heater. I can't imagine keeping them heaterless in a cold area though

Edit:I turn up the heater in the house mind you ,my bettas are "unheated" , kept in warm spots away from drafts and near a heater vent

It depends is it male or female. Females can be kept little cooler but males need heater (around ~27C is ok for males)
