Unexplained death…. Stuff in the water most aquarist can’t test for, prior exposure/ conditions the fish were exposed to… breed issues???

I too am suffering a few losses, this on a tank, the water tests perfect… the tank looks incredible… I do have a mix of plastic plants and resin wood, along with real of both… the plastic and resin are both made for aquariums… these fish seem to get “mad cow disease” victims so far, include platinum rummy nose tetras ( a couple ) a pair of German blue rams, and one Serbia Cory… the tank is pretty full of fish, including other varieties, and victims don’t just die, they seem to go intermittently nuts, sometimes normal for a couple days, before they die… almost seems like a toxicity, either from the plastic or resin, could be coming from the live calathea, or other live plants… could have been something on one of the Indian almond leaves ( aquarium use ) but it’s nothing I have the tools to test for, and for the most part all the rest of the fish are normal ( for now ) including common Oto’s a zebra Oto, a fancy pleco, 6 pristella tetras, and a pair of angels… I’ve not had a sudden die off, just about 1 fish every other week… thoughts ???

That headache/b*tch part of the hobby. I know you been working hard on your set ups but I think you have ordered a fair few fish in recent times (i might have you mixed up thinking about it) and they go straight into your tanks without QT perhaps? Not sure if it applies to the tank/s with deaths? You could try running some good quality carbon (I use fluval) in case something in there that they eye can't see and the water quality tests is not picking up.

That’s a good suggestion… I’m currently not running any carbon
