hi i got a custome made tank delivered today, its 4x2x2 and filled it with 10 litres of water and notices its slightly higher at one end than the other. I used my trusted iphone spirit level on the tank and floor and both are showing about 2.6degrees. Is my tank safe on this level? are am i stuffed :(

you`re stuffed!

no i dont suppose for one min you are, but dont put any more water in for the time being. theres all sorts that can be done ( sadly of which i know none) to level the area out..
someone will be able to help :)
a little paitence tho ( just what u need when u have a brand new tank to fill)

hope all goes well for you xx

I dont think any of my tanks are perfectly level. My 400l tank is about 2-3cm higher one end than the other. I think its more of a problem if it is front to back rather than lengthways, but you could try packing the floor somehow if you are overly worried.

(no doubt I am wrong though lol)

i should think it would be ok, may tank (granted not near as many litres) is uneven...by about 5mm but it seems fine..although wait for someone else aswell just to be on the safe side!

cant say ive ever been too bothered either .. but then ive never had a custom made tank

shelagh xxx

can you see its unlevel or you just using the iphone SL?

my 130 gal is about a centimeter higher on the front side than the back, i only noticed this a few weeks ago, and i hope it wont all come crashing down soon

ooooo that will suck so bad.

anyway, my salt water tank is off, but i cant tell because i filled it to the brim to forget about it

same with my tank on 1 side, and my girlfriends tank. (both elite 95)I get worried too, but i think it matters more if the actual surface that it is sitting on is uneven. could be wrong though

If you have a nice flat surface for the tank to sit on, a slight angle will only be a perception problem. If it looks uneven enough to bother you, that becomes the problem, not the tank's strength.

My 90cm tank has 2 cm difference left to right, even after I put a piece of wood under one side of the sideboard the tank sits on. I live in a 120year old house and floors are VERY uneven. You could try the wood idea. What's really important though is that the surface the tank sits on is perfectly smooth and even

What I did to help level mine was get some woodshims at a hardware store and put them under the stand. Make sure that you put them under the stand itself not the tank.

No floor in my house is even, my 5ft tank is out by 1/2" one end, not had a problem with it - yet!

You can level tanks out with shims (although Ive never found any), so long as you level the stand and not the tank, so the tank is on a flat surface anyway so no stress on the glass is caused, you should be fine.
