Finally I am out of school and i am devoting my time back to bettas. For the past month, Ketchup, my Ct has been horrible! His tail is curled up and he has been depressed. Today i just went to the store and bough some blackworms, and filled him up. I also did a water change for him. Now he seems too be getting better, but how do i restore his fins back to normal? is the curling permanent?

Well, good question. I heard CT's only maintain their perfect tails if they have pristine water conditions, so most CT's have tails that do that to some extent (see my avatar, where part of the tail falls over). I would also like to know if it is repairable.

Hmmm...this is an interesting question.

I would suggest using Blackwater Extract or Indian Almond Leaves for this, in addition to CONSTANT clean water.

Yeah, I was going to say that some CTs just need crystal clear water ALL THE TIME to maintain their perfect tails. Maybe try a little salt in his tank. The curling should not be permanent.

Crowntail need bigger tank so they can keep swimming and maintain the rays straight. Why they curl because they seat at the bottom doing nothing. Always have clean clear water. 10 gallon for one crowntail? LOL

He is in a 1 gallon kritter keeper. I change his water every 5 days. He always has salt, and always has an indian almond leaf. he rarely is on the bottom, except when hiding in his tube. I feed him betta bites 4 times a week, and live worms 3 times a week.

Get a 10 gallon tank and put him in there. See what will happen next. :D

my CT has a semi-curly tail :p and since i have moved him to the 2.5 by himself and kept his water EXTRA clean its been un-curling :) think it means he is happyer?

Because he got more space to move and the movement of him with water flow makes the rays stratch straight. Make sense?:) If you get a 10 gallon tank for him, sure his rays straight like ironing hair straight. LOL

Mine is in a 5g too, he loves it. I am so glad I moved him into it. Once my new ct grows his fins back, he will go in the 2.25g till I can get him a 5G.
