So these freakin' dudes at this pest control place that treated my bedbugs not only muddied up my bathroom and sprinkled pesticide powder all over my dog toys, but they attempted to move my completely full 75g fish tank and broke the bottom of my tank stand! So first they said they would replace it with a used one, well I couldn't find a used one so I said forget it, but then the guy said how about this, I give you $100 and we call it even, I said sure, deal. So they come by today and the freakin' dude says that he doesn't see any damage, and I say BS, it's right freakin' there!... So the're like, well it'll take $100 to fix, and I said then just give me the hundred because I'm not draining it again right now. So they're like "Ok, we're done! Right her the check!" and just walked out. Whatever DUUDE, that check better be good or I'm crackin' some skulls! GAH! I'm so seriously PO'd right now, but at least they gave me the money... cashing it today, I'll let you know. >.>

Quite a few of them! I don't know 5 or 6 guys, something like that, not sure how many attempted to move it, I don't know how they managed it but they moved it at least 2 inches! I have no idea... Who in the WORLD tries to move a full tank that is that big? NO common sense whatsoever!

Ohhhhhh, had they cracked my stand up the side, or cracked or shattered my tank there would have been major hell to pay, and I would be getting a brand new setup! It could have been so much worse, I am thankful that it wasn't...

I would start taking pictures of the damage before and after stick it on a formal email to cover yourself plus a decent company will have insurance for breakages such as these in their line of job?
worst case using your own insurance company to claim off theirs.

I've lifted a 700kg car with a bunch of guys before, but would not even considering moving a 10 gallon with water in it never mind 75. Its not the weight, its how thinks go wrong. Stands are designed to spread compression forces.

Ps be aware of moving cars for a joke, can be illegal in some places and the fuzz do not find it funny (to your face anyway)

I would recommend doing an e-mail documentation on this, in case there was damage on the tank, that may show up in a few days, weeks or months. All it takes is some hairline crack somewhere that is waiting to go off at some point!!! Then you have that documentation (an e-mail from them admitting to moving the stand with the tank, plus the check (get a copy of it from the bank) which would be seen as admittance to guilt) where you may have a better shot holding them responsible for it!

If it makes you feel better when we had bed bugs the guy didn't believe us! Originally we had caught one of them and he looked the room over and saw nothing else so ruled it out as a fluke. We kept getting bit though and he finally broke down and poisoned the place. It took 6 months to do it though and it still wasn't convinced when he sprayed. So frustrating, especially when you're itching so bad you aren't sleeping.
