:( One of my male guppies is swimming unbalanced. I've very concerned about him because he's the first guppy that I ever raised into adulthood. I added some salt into the 46 gallon tank to see if that helps. What can I do to save him?

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5.0 (it's always been like that)
pH - 7.2

It could be constipation, or a swim bladder problem. As Heliam has asked can you be a bit more specific?

 He's swimming unsteady, wiggling from side to side. I don't know how else to desrcibe it, but he looks like he's unbalanced in the water. Like when you're dizzy and your balance isn't steady.

That does sound to me like one of the symptoms of swim bladder disease.

Swim bladder disease
DISEASE Caused by various factors, including sudden changes in temperature, although microbial infection may be involved in some instances.
SYMPTOMS Fish experiences difficulty in maintaining its position in the water. It may show a "list" to one side or even float on its side or back at the water surface.

TREATMENT Initially treat the fish with a white spot remedy. If no improvement is observed within 5-7 days, carry a 50% water change and use an antiparasitic treatment with a formalin .

 Thanks danio2004! I'll seperate him and treat him with some medication for swim bladder disease. Hopefully, he'll recover.

Hello, I was wondering how he is today?

I wholeheartedly agree with the swim bladder disease diagnosis. Hope he recovers and improves. I recently had a molly die from SBD, and I know how sad it is to watch them struggling to swim normally.

keep us posted. good luck!

 He doesn't look so good today. He's laying on the bottom not moving. I would hate to lost him! :-(

This morning I found one of my female guppies dead! I have lost so many fish during the past month!
