Hi Guys, I stumbled onto this aquarium. Don't know if anyone else has posted this here... But what do you guys thing of it?

8) http://www.octopusstudios.com/ 8)

I think it's pretty cool, and would love to know if anyone has one... and how is the upkeep of it etc... It must be a challenge I think...

The exchange surface for that thing must be so tiny compared with how much water it holds. Combine that, with the apparant inability to clean the sealed tanks, combined with the high possibility of stagnant spots, means challenging is an understatement lol

Edit: Apparently no filter, water movement device of any type. (also lol at the fish combo they have pictured in it)

i think it looks really cool. i wouldnt fancy maintaining it though!
lol at the fish too
the website reckons that it is no harder to maintain than a rectangular one. it has eheim filter and undergravel too
i like it actually

lol i can see what you mean about the cleaning etc... they do state that they include pipes for cleaning and a special glass cleaner for cleaning the tubs, but how do they keep the water moving around it?

Its like one of those hamster mazes,

Imagine trying to take a fish out of there, It would just shoot to one of the lower orbs and you foobarred!

hmmm yes you do have a point, you could bribe them with some food or something... i think this would have to be set up with easy to maintain fish... i assume loads of people won't like them...

looks horrible and would be a nightmare for maintenance!

you'd even struggle if a fish died in there and went into one of the sealed bits, you'd never get it out horribly messing up the water chemistry :/

lol, well i still think it's cool... it does have that wow factor to it i think... and if you stock correctly you might get a good balance...

it would look good to your friends as it has the wow factor i wouldnt waste my money on it though

Very low surface area and is there anything to circulate the water aroud?

Look's stunning, but i can see it lasing to long.

I do aquatic maintenance for a living and would not like to many of these to work on.....

These are much more work and would chage much more to work on.....

It looks like it would be great as a central feature in a huge house with a few small eel species living in it but as a basic home aquarium its pretty much useless.

true, if it was too much maintenance they would not have made it, it does say on their website that it is easy to maintain, just like a regular aquarium.

http://www.octopusstudios.com/maintenance.htm (i tried to cut and paste the text but they have barred my mouse from doing it, can't right click or anything - i find that suspicions, why would they do that?) anyways according to them it can be easier to clean than a regular aquarium... hmmm -_-

Its a case of Style over function

Looks like it's one of those Science class glass beakers stuck together or someone putting fish in to a bong to make it seem more respectable (or get it through customs with ease :p ).
