"A man who owns what is thought to be the UK's biggest privately-owned aquarium, in the basement of his Nottinghamshire home, said he dreams of building something much bigger and turning his hobby into a job.

The 4,500-gallon freshwater fish tank is 7ft (2.1m) deep and 13ft (4m) wide.

It cost Jack Heathcote from Carlton £5,000 to create and is home to several stingrays, two turtles, a catfish and a 4ft (1.2m) alligator gar fish.

Mr Heathcote said he had had a passion for fish since childhood and dreamt of building a 50,000 gallon tank and breaking the world record for a private aquarium, currently held by an American"

Love the way he cleans the glass!!! hahaha

Whats that massive thing?

And, i know for a lot of people big tanks mean big fish, but i'd love to see a tank that size turned into a biotope with thousand of tetra :hyper:

Cheers

Just spotted the other thread with the same video. Should have checked first, eh?

Think i will pop round and see his pride and joy :hey: if i can find it that is lol

That is truly a tank many people dream about and never own

I remember seeing this on PFK, i'm sure of it. As nice as it is, i think its a little wastefull for how big it is. The biotope idea would be amazing. A british take on what Takashi Amano did with his huge Altum tank, that would be ace!

That tank is quite big! I'll make sure my son makes a tank that dwarfs this man's tank. For now, I can't be bothered ;)

I wonder if he has the same water bill tariff in his council tax?!
