I am pretty severly overstocked and I cant upgrade tanks right now because my wife and I are going to be buying a home soon and she wont let me spend the money...

I dont want to take the fish back to the pet store, but at the same time, I dont want them to die off from being cramped into the tank they are in.... As of right now, they seem to be doing well, but the water is kinda murky, and Im sure its because of their "waste"...

What should I do?

Right now I am using a UGF and BioWheel...

I have gold fish, a columbian shark, and a stripped raphael (who hides til he wants to eat...) :p

Can you please give the size of each fish, the tank size and the model name of your biowheel?

I have 4 gold fish. 3 of them are about 2", and the other one is probably 3". The "shark" is probably about 3.5" and the raphael is maybe about 3"

By my estimate at this point, I am 2 fish over where I should be not even accounting for the growing they will do... It is a 10 gal. (US) tank and the bio wheel is the penguin mini... (for up to 15 gallons I think it is)

Yea, way too many for a 10g.

Depending on what goldfish you have, 1 or 2 would be tops unless they are comets, because they are so dirty and are heck on filtration.

I would definately get rid of your Raphael cat. I don't know very many commen names for fish and just go by the scientific name, but if it's what I think it is, it will get about 8".

Depending on which shark you have, it might be 4-16" at maturity. Can you describe what it looks like? colors etc. Hopefully it's not a bala shark.

The GoldFish are in fact Comets. The "shark" is a columbian catfish, and can get up to 10" in captivity... I am planning on getting a new tank soon, but not immeadiately... I dont know what to do with the Raphael..... anyone in the US want him?

I just did a search for you and it seems the Raphael gets to about 8". It's not the fish I thought it was.

I edited my above post to show that so someone reading it wouldn't be led astray by my post.

They are comets. That is a good thing? Will the fish be ok the way they are for a while at least? or do I need to do something quickly?

why not get one of those plastic tupperware bins with an aerator and put the comets in it. you would not need to have a heater for it. you could get one of those sponge filters that set up on the aerator. would only be a temporary home tile you get the bigger tank and give the fish more room. afterwards, the set up with a heater added could be a hospital or spare if you need it.
