Twitching fish

Hi, I have noticed for a few days that one of my guppies has been doing twitching movements - I tried to upload a video but it wouldn't let me. All my params are normal, I did a water change yesterday. Is this something to be worried about?

Update: She is now also rubbing against the gravel

My fish are doing the same thing, and one of them has red like vains in its tail. I was told to do 75% water changes every day for a week. And if they didn’t improve, use aquarium salt for 2 weeks. Maybe that will help yours? Best of luck!

If the fish ever start to act unusual, do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day until the problem is identified. The water changes and gravel cleaning will dilute any harmful substances or nutrients in the water, as well as reduce the number of disease organisms in the tank, and this will buy the fish some time until you find out what is going on.

Fish rubbing on objects can be poor water quality (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate), or external protozoan parasites like white spot, velvet, costia, chilodonella or trichodina. White spot is the most common protozoan parasite and can be treated by raising the water temperature to 30C (86F) and keeping it there for 2 weeks, or at least 1 week after all the white spots have disappeared.

Photos and video of the fish can help us identify the problem more accurately.
