got a tiger barb who is having trouble swimming, seems to be trying to wriggle body in order to move but it just jerking to one side and curling slightly - always to the same side.
it is managing to mantain its position in the middle of the tank despite the current from the filter but is rarely moving very far either. the same barb was darting around the tank crazily earlier (playing chase with a companion) and has been known to smack into things so could it have hurt itself?
colouring appears fine and is showing interest in food, 2 other barbs are healthy although we believe 3 black mollies have just contracted pop-eye (we noticed both problems at the same time).
the tank:
20 gallon (2 foot by 1 foot)
3 black mollies
3 silver mollies
3 sunset platies
3 tiger barbs
5 panda cory
1 suckermouth catfish
i realise its a small tank for these but they are all quite young and small and we are getting an upgrade at christmas.
tank has been up for about 2 months with no other problems that could be related to its condition. no testing kit as yet but will be purchasing soon so will post results if this hasn't been sorted.
we have been water changing about 25% a week and stir the sand and gravel (gravel floor with a sand patch in the middle for the cory) about twice a week.
i hope thats everything anyone got any ideas? its been doing it a good couple of hours now
BTW - sorry for the triple post, the site was giving me an error but i guess it was working after all
