Hi I saw something that I wanted to see if my dad could make for a couple of turtles that I was hoping to get. I was thinking of filling a tank so that it was filled with water, making like a box out of wood with a hole in the bottom large enough for your biggest turtle, having a ramp that leeds out of the tank into the wooden box so that the turtles could actually climb out of the tank and into the wooden box like thing. I was also thinking of using something to make like a window so that you would be able to see the turtles. Maybe a screen that you could staple into the wood or use a hot glue gun to hold the screen on? This would allow the turtles to have maximum swimming space.

Heres a picture of what I was talking about:

Does anybody have any idea about how this could be done? Also coulden't you do it with more then 1 tank by making it so that the wood box has more then one opening and more then 1 ramp? Because I have 1 large tank and a couple of smaller ones laying around and several heat lamps I was thinking that I could just do that with all of my extra tanks laying around. This would make it so that turtles have a maximum swimming space and a lot of land areas. Does anybpdy know what that person did to make the cage type thing that keeps the turtes from getting out?

I have no idea but that tank is way too small for two turtles of that size. I like your idea of connecting your spare tanks though!

Okay I can't find out how to do this anywhere on the internet so I decided to make up my own steps to share with everybody on this forum. Please tell me if you have any suggestions or if you think any problem will occur.
materials
-enough wood to fit your tank/s
-plenty of nails
-something to screw the nails in
-screen cover

Part 1 Making the frame

Step 1: Grab a board that is about 4 inches longer in length then your fish tank and about 4 inches longer in width (this is so that the turtles can climb up the ramp into the turtle condo and turn around to go the other way)

Step 2:get 2 boards that are about 1 inch thick and 4 inches high (these will make the front wall and back wall of your turtle condo) Get 2 more boards that are about 1 inch thick and 8 inches high.(these will make the side walls)

Step 3: Drill the walls into every side of the board.

Step 5: Now to the front of the turtle condo drill in a screen. This will be like a window. You should now basicly have the same thing as in the picture escept instead of having the front board you have a screen so ypu can actually see the turtles

Part 2 Making the top portion of the turtle condo
This is the part where I really need your help
Below is what I was thinking but I'm definetly open to suggestions

Step 6: Using the 2 side walls as supports to hold up the top portion of the turtle condo get a screen that measures the length of th fish tank and drill, glue or staple the screen into the side walls, so that the turtles can't get out of the front of the tank. Do the same for the back. It should now be impossible for turtles to escape from any side of the tank

Step 7: To make sure that the turtles do not escape along the bottom of the screen using a hot glue gun glue the bottom og the screen to the front wall. Do the same for the back.

Step 8: Place a screen hood on top of the 2 side boards

Part 3 the ramp

Step 9: Cut a hole in the bootom board big enough for your largest turtle to easily fit through

Step 10: Using something as a ramp glue it to the turtle condo facing the side that is overlapping the tank 4 inches.

Tell me if you have nay suggestions
