Guys is it ok to turn off the Filters while am sleeping, coz its in my bed Room and the sound is kinda annoying u know . . . ?? or it could harm or do something bad to the water ???

Please help i can't get any sleep at all X_x

are they internal or external? is the spout above water level?
filters shouldnt be switched off unless for cleaning :/

you need to leave them running at the most only of when feeding and water changing

I've heard of filters losing bacteria over night / nitrite spiking due to the filter stops for longer than 8 hours.

I like my filter, it's internal, but not sure how powerful it is (says 300l/h). I keep the tank in my bedroom too.

You get used to it. What filter is it? I have 2 in my room. A penguin 350 that's pretty quiet and a fluval chi that's silent other than the sound of water.

hmmmmm mine is 800 L/H , but am guessing i'll have to deal with it and sleep outside LOL

There are loads of different options open to you, but you can't turn the filters off on a regular basis.

First of all, make sure the filters are set up correctly and don't have any trapped air in them, which makes them run more noisily than they should.

Or new filters (don't forget to move the old media to the new filters if you do change them). Or ear plugs?

It would help to know what kind of filters you have though.

You can buy some really quiet filters. That or move the tank to another room which would be my advice!

Only you know how sensitive you are to noise...I use ear plugs all the time and can't get to sleep with even a small hum coming from another room, but some friends stayed a few weeks ago in my front room and slept through the sound of three filters on full blast two nights running. Suppose it is whatever you're used to.

When I was a kid, dad bought this really noisy filter... the fish were jumping everywhere, annoyed by it. It was similar to my BOYU filter but smaller, with a green square sponge.
Despite being in a room where no one sleeps, neither me or my parents could sleep through that racket. And I don't like sticking stuff in my ears o_O
