Hi i may turn my 120 litre tank into a reef (its FW at the mo), just a soft coral reef. Is the tunze 9002 any good? Would i be better off with out a skimmer?

Thanks

Sorry, could someone answer ASAP if they could as its for sale just need to know if i should buy it,

Thanks

Yes you can most certainly turn your tank into a reeftank. And yes, the Tunze 9002 is a great skimmer :)

yes i love that skimmer, im using it ATM and its skimming my tank even though the bio-load is only 7 snails and 6 hermit crabs....

Do you live in the us?

Thanks for the replys
Nah, im from england, Little town called london  I was going to get 10 KG of LR (from a reefer closing down for £60) and i have 5-6KG of base rock so i can put that in. Hmm im going to get the skimmer then i think the guy is selling for £40 only used for a few weeks. Well buying used is cutting cost majorly.

Lighting wise i was looking at this, i may have to do something though as my tank is 5cm wider

second hand is fine but you need to make sure it has everything. Check the pump and the impeller (the bottom of the skimmer there is this door type thing, on the sides of the bottom there are two clips, push the clips back and pull down the door. THeres the pump) check if the pump output is connected to this green pipe, and make sure the green pipe has a silicone tube that connects to the screw at the skimmers neck. Without that silicone tube it wont produce bubbles. Dont panic if the collection cup is loose, its meant to be loose. And you dont have to have your water at that level, that level is more of a guideline, the US models should have the water level above the line on the skimmer since the US pumps are stronger, hence the question do you live in the US :)

There should also be an assortment of ways to hang the skimmer in the tank, check out the online manual to see them and make sure he has those parts. There should also be cleaning tools that come with it, if he doesnt have cleaning brushes its not the end of the world but first hand ones come with cleaning brushes.

WOW lots of info, thats why i love forums, where else would i get such detail. Thanks for that. Right i will defo check if everything is right (by what you said) and have a good look. Sould i ask to see it working on his tank or because its all black it wont make a difference? Im going to read the post another couple times so i know what to look for.

Thanks

checking if its working would be great, just ask him to submerge it (doesnt matter where) turn it on and take the collection cup off and open the screw, if you look down on the hole where the collection cup was there should be lots of bubbles and you shouldnt see much if any micro bubbles in the tank.
