tumor looking thing on front fins of my cichilds

Some of my cichilds are getting tumors on their front fins. I lost one already. It looks like skin wrapped around the base of the fins. It grows larger with time. I have had fish forever, but never this problem. Thanks, Sharon

U gotta give us some more details about the environment it was in. Water parameters, type, size and age of the fish. Need to know those things first.

is it red at all? it could be an open sore and if your nitrites are high it can irritate it causing the growth. i had that on my pleco i treated it with medication (i think fungus clear but don;t remember) and the growth "fell" off with part of the fin. but the fin grew back!
