My mom went out today to buy cat food and thought she'd buy a "treat" for my bettas. She bought Tubifex worms, something I've never fed to any of my fish since I've found them to really cloud up the water if not eaten promptly. She'd probably be offended if she asked me to return them, so I was wondering... if I tore off a bit of the cube and pre-soaked it, could I feed it out the way I might say, a cube of blood worms? I don't see why they'd be bad for bettas aside from the freeze-dried part, which soaking should remedy, but I've not seen a single soul on here suggest them as an "ok" treat so I thought I'd ask. I'm a bit leery of them, honestly, because I've read some pretty bad things about the live ones regarding gram negative bacterial infection. But if freeze drying kills the bacteria, I'm hoping they'd be ok.

Yes you can cut the tube in half, and i always soak mine they break up easy then,

you can try, but ive found mine wont touch them lol, still fingers crossed yours wont be so fussy

Ok, thanks ^^ I doubt my boys and girls will be picky; they're used to being fed a variety of pelleted, frozen, and live foods daily, and I just started adding pre-soaked freeze drief foods like daphnia, so hopefully they'll like this just as much. :good:

Back in the day I used to use them for treats in a community aquarium. My fish always devoured them with gusto.

I normally used the fact that they were freezed to my advantage by pressing the cube of tubifex worms against the aquarium tank glass. The outside of the cube would instantly hydrate allowing the fish the bite and swallow strands of worms at will.

I don't recall ever feeding them to bettas speciffically, though.
