Ok.. I bought some tubifex worms tonight 'cause I read somewhere that fish love them...

Directions say to press it against the wall , well below the water level?? Well, first off, i can barely reach below the water level.. second, are these supposed to mash up when you do that? or stick to the wall ?

They are supposed to stick to the wall, but they will get torn off right away by the fish. Instead, break it up into small pieces (rice grain size) and chuck it on the top. Tubifex does not sink, it will float around and even if pulled down and torn up, the floaty pieces will make it back to the top. It does not take much tubifex, I use prob 1/8 cube for 11 community fish in one feeding.

are they dried or something? I have only ever seen/fed live tublflex worms. Keep them in the fridge rinse daily and feed in a dish slowly lowered to bottom of tank.

I've managed to buy frozen tubifex before and I loved them and so do the fish! I didn't eat them you understand! I mean I loved them because they float for ages so give all my fish chance to grab some. I've got soem Hatchet fish (top feeders) and glass catfish (they take ages to realise there's food about because they are always hiding) so the slow dropping of the tubifex was excellent. However, it appears to be hard to get hold of because there's only one lfs that sells them frozen and it's about 30 miles away - I mean I love my fish but there's a limit!!!

I have a black ghost knife fish who feeds from my hand and I give him half a cube of tubifex (dried) a night! Is that too much? I noticed Fawn Model only uses 1/8th for the whole tank! I also vary his diet with daphnia (wet and squidgy) and bloodworms (dried). The other fish in the community tank eat these as well.

If they are frozen, simply put them in a small cup of tank water to thaw and then pour them in the tank. I do that with all the frozen foods I use.

it's better to feed less then more
the tank stays cleaner

i usually se about 1/4 of a cube of tubifex worms for my 50 and 20 gallon tanks.

for frozen food, i cube (about 1/8 ounce) will feed my 8 bettas, my killifish, my 20 gallon that has about 12 tetras and a few cories, my 50 gallon community and the fry tank, all lightly

two cubes for them all would be a complete meal

hungry fish are healthy fish. besides, fish are more active when they're hungry

I bought these and I will never feed them to my fish again.
Biggest mess ever.
