ok,
I want to start a saltwater reef. All i know is i want clown fish and a anemine(did i spell that right?) the tank i want is a 72 gallon. Its $180 is that a good price? I was wondering how many fish can go in that. i would like any reccomendations on any cool fish or rocks. that are good for begginners. thanks for any help.

Seth,

What I reccomend before you start even thinking about getting a saltwater tank is reading a good book on how to set one up and maintain it. Consider the time and the money that it will take to set up even a small tank. Consider several factors in your life which may prohibit you starting a saltwater aquarium.

After you read the book and consider those factors, then you can start thinking about starting a fish only tank. I reccomend going to some of your lfs's in your area and talk to them about setting up a saltwater aquarium.

Other then that, good luck with it. Read the book and lurk around the forums awhile reading about other people's problems and research various basic things about saltwater aquariums. Again, good luck.

OK now for the bad news...

Dont even try to keep an anenome unless you have a good 12 months experience behind you and even then i urge you to keep clear of them as they have very poor survival records.
To keep an anenome you will need halides and this is going to increase you setup bill considerably too.

If you want to see clowns interacting with anenomes then purchase a simple Sarcophyton leather mushroom corals. Far less demanding than an anenome and far easier to keep.

There is no gaurentee that an clwon will even accept an anenome if you buy one (espeically if they are tank bred clowns).

the lfs i go to have tanks set up with an ananime and 2 clowns. usually the clown fish stays in the aniname. does anyone have any reccomendations on good saltwater fish?
