My African Tetra tank is hard to work on, being built in, and with 3 sides for viewing… it’s a river tank, with a strong cross current created by an over sized filter for the tank, in combination with a 10 inch bubble waterfall, both on one end… this is a deep tank, and I use 2 full length LED lights to insure adequate lighting in the depths… so I’ve been trying several floating plants to shade the side glass from excess algae growth on the hard to work on end ( opposite of the filter)… the flow naturally pushes the plants to that end… finding just the right plants that are lower maintenance, yet can handle the high water flow, has proven to be a challenge… of the half dozen or so plants, I’ve tried, so far the Asian Water Moss seems to be working best… but in this case almost too well… it’s forming a floating carpet about an inch thick, over half of the tank, down stream… I have a nice aquatic plant, that needs shaded light, on that side of the tank, and I’m getting some yellowing of some leaves… I don’t think it’s getting quite enough light… I’m going to try inserting one of these floating feeding rings, into the middle of the carpet of plants to allow more light, above my aquatic plant… they come in several sizes, so I can adjust as needed…
