Hi

Im looking at adapting the kids tropiquarium88 to run an external filter, UV steriliser and possibly skimmer (only if they decide to go marine) off it

Anybody done such a thing with one, the only thing that concerns me is the hood plastics will probably require a hatchet type job

Any ideas or thoughts anyone ??

Thanks

shouldn't be too hard at all. Check the lid, there should be spots where you can punch out sections to allow for hoses to go into the tank. Then get a canister filter of your choosing, and run the sterilizer off the water returning to the tank. The cleaner the water going through the sterilzer, the more effective it will be, and the less cleaning it will need.

As a tip though, if the hood does not have the punch outs, or you just want to make it a little bit neater, get a drill bit one size up from whatever hose will be going through it. You want it to have some slack to move about. Then place a wood block under the plastic where you want to drill. This will support the plastic and not only keep it from breaking, but it should also make the hole where bit comes out a lot smoother.
