So, today I visited my local fish store to view various different aquariums and equipment; You many have seen I have been asking various questions about various different areas of tropical fish and I'm very grateful for everybody who helped me out with those questions!
So, today I decided the best way to get a feel for what kind of tank I would like and how big I would like, was to visit the LFS and have a look. I had previously been set on the Juwel Rio 240 but seeing the size of a 240 today, I have decided that it is a little too big for my room and the 180 tanks are just about right, and still have plenty of room so I'm happy with what size I would like now. I've also decided to go with a Bow Curve tank as I am very keen on the overall look of the tank. The one I have my eye on is the Fluval Vicenza 180 with Cabinet. It looks elegant and after seeing it I now know that for me there is plenty of room within it.
The deal I have found is £300 for the tank, cabinet, 200w heater, internal filter and lighting kits. I plan to eventually get an external filter which I will fit within the cabinet so it can't be seen as I now know they are much better, but due to finances this is one thing that will have to wait for a while. Of course I then need to choose a substrate, which will probably be gravel unless I can find out more about sand. I will then be decorating the aquarium with plants and things, but whether the plants will be live I am not yet sure.
I will update this as time goes on and hopefully by this time next months I will be updating this with the details of cycling

Just been to Argoose and bought 3 bags of Play Sand for £8.97, I got an Argoose gift voucher for Christmas so thought I'd get the substrate now and will keep it in a dry place until January when I purchase the tank. Great value, especially as I got discount so in the end it was only £8 for 45kg of sand! I won't be using it all as I dont want anything too deep, but I thought I could setup my 10gal with sand aswell.
