Hi everyone, me and my girlfriend are wanting to build a tropical garden with a pond, with tropical fish in it. We have come up with an idea of building a giant greenhouse over the entire garden i.e plastic over the full thing and plastic sides.
Would this make it too warm for fish to live in?
Hi jplev8, and welcome to TFF! Sounds like a great idea, but we would need a little more info from you such as what type of fish do you plan to keep in the pond, what's your climate like ( we don't know where you are), how big will the pond and the greenhouse be, have you kept fish before... that should be a good start. I personally would love to have the room to do something similar to what you are talking about
in the winter, it would cost a lot to heat and in the summer it would cost a lot too cool. not to mention the initial set-up costs. it would work but you would need good powerfull heaters and a way of cooling it in the summer either lots of vents with extractor fans with fans across the surface of the water and also probably a chiller.
