Hi guys i need some ideas on decorations aand aquascaping my tropical tank

Any ideas would be great :) a natural look if possible :)

Start by posting details of your tank, a clear photo(s) and even sketches of anything you like/dislike. At the moment there isn't much to go on.

What is the natural habitat of your fish like? Wood? Rocks? Plants? Sand? Pebbles? Caves?

hi sorry :)

my tanks 3ft long by 1.3ft wide and 1.5ft high

a natural look would be great it has a sand substrate at the moment

does the tank look ok does it look good if it does look nice plant suggestions?

in the next few weeks there will be an male betta 2 congos 3 african dwarf frogs and 2 bristlenoses

oh also the breeder tank is not longer in there its been removed :)

advice and all help accepted thank guys :)

this is what it looks like now :)

It already looks pretty natural. I like the stones. I would remove the arch and the artificial bamboo tube on the left and replace these with a few pieces of mopani wood in interesting shapes, creating a natural arch and caves for the bristlenoses

I'd replace the background with plain black, or paint it black.

I'd hide the heater on the side of the tank and put a taller plant in front of it. The betta in particular will appreciate more plant cover. Try slower growing ones tied onto rocks or wood - anubias and java fern.

I liked how you had the stones before it looked much more natural. Def change the background to a plain black or blue (I prefer black) add more plants.

what plants would you suggest for this tank?

the inhabiance will change to my betta 2 dwarf gouramis (my gouramis are fine with the betta) 3 frogs, i fire ell (soon going), and 2 congo tetras and 2 bristle noses n a hillstream loach

I'm no expert on plants, in fact I know very very little. Plants I generally use and have success with are amazon sword, crypts and Java fern. Java fern attached to some wood looks really good.

Congo tetra need to be in large groups 6+ bare min and thet very big which will over stock you in time. I have 15 in 350L and they are already approx 4 inch and their still young. some people will also adivse frogs do not belong in community tank as they struggle for food :good:
