Hello,
I'm new to the tropical fish hobby and i've been using the internet a lot to do research etc. But i'm thinking about whether or not to subscribe to a fish keeping magazine. There's two in publication in England (Tropical Fish and Practical Fish Keeping). Does any1 subscribe to either of these magazines or do you think that anything you can find in a magazine you can find better of the Net. Just wondering what you guys think.

Thanks

Jai

If you do a search for "Practical Fish Keeping", you will find some views on this magazine.
I subscribe to it, and enjoy it :)
but others say it has too many advertisements these days and too much marine.
Personally I like seeing ads about new products or companies - and I enjoy reading about marine too, as some day I might keep them.

I get Practical Fishkeeping occasionally. Why not just buy a few editions of both or either from a newsagent (WH Smith stocks both, if that helps) and see which one you like? I think they're both pretty expensive given the amount of advertising they carry, but enjoy reading them all the same.

i would love to subscribe to PFK, how would i do it?

You can do it online here, but I suggest you buy a magazine in a shop and subscribe from there - you usually have some nice free gifts to choose from then :D

I purchased PFK for the first time today. Just had a quick flick through it so far, and there does seem to be quite a lot on marine... Advertisements too, though thankfully NO stupid loan forms etc fell out of it!!!

I just brought the 'Tropical Fish ' magazine which was ok. I don't think that i'm going to subscribe to that magazine, but i'm going to buy PFK and see if thats any good. One good thing about 'Tropical Fish' is that there weren't much adverts in it.

That's probably why it is only half as thick as Practical Fish Keeping.
