I have always wondered the same? I dont know much about them but I didnt know how lond they lived of if they would eat my smaller fish or if my larger fish would eat them? If you find out any info I would love to hear it!

There's a wealth of information in the inverts forum further down the main forum listing. Not sure what species are pink and white though.

I was in a lfs store today and saw some crabs and my sister wanted one. She was going to get some frogs and shrimps, so she asked about the crabs as well. He said that crabs will eat anything they can get their claws on, including frogs, shrimps and small fish. Be careful what you put them with. I don't know about big fish eating the crabs though. Although the crabs we saw were only about 1 cm long.

Thanks for the help! No Crabs for my tank then I would like to keep the neons and Guppies!

If it's a red claw crab, you don't really got anything to worry about it eating fish. Crabs seem to like brackish though I think.

White and purple sounds like the African Rainbow Crab which is a mostly land based crab that gets quite large compared to a red claw crab, and should be kept in a large 'beach'tank with deep sand on one end for burrowing and 3-4" of ater on the other end. You would need at least a 3ft tank with a heater and filter. A heat pad under the deep end of the sand would be benificial too.

so these red claw crabs would be ok to keep in a tropical comunity tank?
or what should i get want something that isnt a fish to live in there with them to make it a bit differnt what about shrimps are there any fresh water ones?

Red claw crabs can be kept in freshwater, yes. They seem to like the salt though. There's also all kinds of shrimp that you can get. Most are small enough to be concidered food by the fish though.
