I've been looking around at the type of plants I want for my new aquarium and have come across plants by Tropica. Many of the sites advertise that Tropica Plants are superior but I wanted people's advice if this was indeed the case.

Tropica are the best on the market, only seconded to aquafluer.

Excellent, thanks for clarifying. I'll definitely be looking for these then.

They're also sold by many branches of P@H if that helps. I like being able to see plants before buying.

Cheers for that, I've got a Pets at Home near my work so may pop in this week and have a look.

It's best to go in late weds or thurs as that's when Tropica plants are delivered.

Aquafluer, I thought tropica were better than them Ian?

They are very much on a par, Tropica edge it for me though, pot size it bigger and all tropicas plants are grown in Europe.

You know what would be great, if one of those two decided to grow a line of plants that are all grown submerged so we don't have to go through the transition every time we plant up, they'd be more expensive obviously but would be worth it for a lot of species and hobbyists.

they have...

you don't get any melt or the stems don't tend to loose there bottom leaves with these. There is gonna be a massive push with these shortly from Tropica, so they will get really popular IMO. They have some really different plants as well.

Hmmm, my wallet just got lighter :), anywhere in UK selling these?

They're just In-Vitro though aren't they? If they do push them they could be good for LFS' to keep on the shelves with min. maintenance. But you probably read Richard has already stopped stocking Aquafleur's version as no one was buying. :(

yes they are the in vitro range, but they won't melt when plants, they are grown from tissue cultures. So, they aren't grown submerged, but they are the next best thing.

I have been chatting with Mark Evans about these as he is doing all tropicas pics and vids (btw my Echinodorus tank will be featuring on there website ; ) ). He will be doing a full 1 - 2 grow tank very soon, as Tropica try and push these, they are a great idea and you get triple the size of a typical pot. They are really a no brainer for an aquascaper...however, i'm not sure how they will take off for the average tank keeper as they normally want plants for immediate effect in the tank.

this still remains one of my fave scapes...all done with 1 - 2 grow.
