Today hubby surprised me with a trip to the aquarium to try out my new camera. I have been wanting to go to the aquarium for a while (we haven't gone for about 2.5-3 years!)

It is about 60 miles away which is one of the reasons why we haven't had time to go lately.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the outing.

Excuse the watermark, I had one of my pictures stolen recently and posted on another site and I had to fight a bit to prove it was mine. (It was ridiculous but I finally had the picture removed. It was not this site nor lifted from this site and it has been resolved so I won't disclose the site.)

Very nice photos! Must have been wonderful to see them in person! Thanks for sharing! :)

I love the eels and jellies! The eels look rather excited. I haven't gone to an aquarium in ages.

Nice photos. I went to the London aquarium yesterday (Saturday) and they seem to have very similar exhibits!

Thank you! It was a fun trip!

I wasn't impressed with their discus and angelfish tank. The discus especially were not impressive - ragged fins, slime coat issues, film on their eyes...

I expected to be blown away by the set up as it is one of their newer tanks but my own stock looked SO much better!

Ahhhhh that's so cool!! I love EVERY single one of the pics! ^_^ I wish I would've taken more pictures when I went to the aquarium and Sea World when I was there with my friends back in March. Darn it.!

Third best aquarium I've been to, that one, good display of sandtiger sharks, IIRC.

2nd best one is the one in Plymouth.

But, if you fancy a trip over the channel to buy cheap booze, go to Boulogne, to Nausicaa - outstanding, truly wonderful place. And all the signage is tri-lingual, French, English & German, all the staff are tri-lingual.

Easily do-able in a day from anywhere in the South-east of England.

Lovely pictures! I love the seahorse!

beautiful photos, but I recommend moving your watermark to appear bottom left of your photos and more importantly, add an embedded digital signature into the file (cannot be seen, but easily retrievable through software, including copied photos, between this and a visual one you are protected against direct download and screenshots). As people (and you) tend to make the subject of the photo centre of the frame, a watermark in the same place isn't good, at least not at the size and transparency settings I see here.

My sister is a qualified professional photographer and once had a photo of hers pinched which was being sold on another site for prints. The funny part was, the person that nicked it lived in the same town as me and had the same name as me: got a mouthful of abuse from her before I could explain that it wasn't me haha. I certainly know of the troubles you went through sorting out your own work.

Isn't that the point though? That the watermark covers the subject to dissuade people from staling it? If it's in the bottom left corner for example, the photo could be cropped and stolen watermark-free.

Most people simply grab the image, a digitally embedded signature is often the best solution. If you must watermark the subject of the photo to prevent screen grab & cropping, it can me done on the micro scale, fitting into the picture as best as you can then flattening the image.

I am being picky I will admit: mostly because in my job, detail is everything and I cant see detail due to the glaring watermarks seen here. Messing with my CDO

Wow! Great photos, I guess you should call that a successful visit! I haven't been to the aquarium in quite some time either. I might have to go soon, it really feels magically while you're watching these creatures that you wouldn't be able to see otherwise.
