Hi. I recently hatched some Triops in a 1.5L tank that came with the kit, it's about 7cm deep. The water I used was advertise as spring water, although I later found out it has various minerals in, including 6mg/L Chlorine. I'm not sure if this is a considerable amount, but the Triops hatched, then died after 3 days.

Also, I try to keep the temp constant but since I'm using a lamp to heat it, which I turn off at night, it fluctuates between 20 at night and sometimes rises to 29 in the day, is this too much of a range? Thanks for any help.

It said in my kit to keep the chlorine below 10mg. You could add a declorinator if youre worried.

Easiest way to kill them is overfeeding or temperature.
Temperature should stay between 22 and 29 degrees, and dont drop it below 21. A constant temperature between 22 and 25 is best. I have to keep my lamp on most nights, or turn up the heating. They get more resiliant about temperature as they age, but at first its crucial to keep them warm.

Also the kits you get are fine for the first couple of weeks but if you dont transfer them to something bigger eventually they will eat each other and you will be left with one.
Each adult triops should have minimum 2 litres water unless they will fight to the death (a bit of fighting will go on anyway as they are territorial, but I heard 2 litres per triops reduces it).
The bigger container can be a normal food container, as food contaoiners dont leach chemicals into the water like other containers.
My 10 litre one cost me under 2 pounds - just look in the supermarket.
I got this info from owning them, but also from the booklet they come with and this site, which is very helpful:

You can contact the company for replacement eggs, and mine sent me a thermometer and a list of tips too which was nice :)

also all spring water will have minerals in of some sorts.
