i spotted one of my female trilineatus flirting with a skunk last night, they were side by side quivering like she does with the male trilineatus before they spawn...

Hopefully they wont breed together...but is it possible for these 2 species to cross breed ??

Greetings. I'm loathe to use the word "impossible" when stating the capability of these two species to hybridize, so let's add the caveat "virtually." :) That being said, should the pair produce what appear to be viable eggs, they should be destroyed and the fish separated. - Frank

Thanks Frank,

I don't want them too even if they would,i haven't seen any further action from the 2,so hopefully they'll stick with their own species.

Sorry to be a dumpty. I think I can see the reasons species shouldnt cross breed but what are the real important factors? I know it is very irresponsible but quite interested in the reasoning?
