I have a trigon 350 (pictures will follow soon)

It's now fully stocked with

1 x gold Severum 7-8 inch, 1 x upside down cat 5 inch, 1 x ghost knife 6 inch, 2 x marble sailfin pleco both around 6inch, 2 x small Hoplo cats, 1 x Pakistan loach, 2 x small bristlenoses plecs, 1 x small unknown cat, 2 x flying foxes, 2 x large Corydoras vittatus, 1 x albino and 1 x bronze Cory, 3 x silver dollars, 2 small normal kissing gourami and 1 balloon, 2 x pearl, 2 x thick lipped gourami, 1 x orange gourami, 1 x male betta, 5 x scissor tails, 5 x silver tip tetrad, 3 x male sailfin mollies, 5 x cherry barbs, 2 x serpae tetras.

Is this too much?

My plecs will be going this week as there both about 8 inches each now and I'm getting sick of them kicking. Up the sandy substrate everywhere, there going to be replaced with 3 or 4 small clown loach.

Also to add i have a adequate cannister filter.

Sorry about the pictures my phone won't take very good pictures and it can't capture the curve very well

Hi Liam and welcome to the forum. I would say your well over-stocked.
1 x gold Severum 7-8 inch will grow a lot larger.
1 x ghost knife, not sure as I've never kept them.
2 x marble sailfin pleco, will also grow large.
1 x Pakistan loach, can be very aggressive on their own and a minimum of 6 is suggested.
2 x large Corydoras vittatus, 6+ is also suggested.
1 x albino and 1 x bronze Cory, again, 6+ of each is suggested.
3x silver dollars, 6+ suggested and grow LARGE.
1 x male betta, would be better off in a tank of his own and definitely not with gouramis.
5 x silver tip tetrad, 6+
5 x cherry barbs, can be aggressive and I would suggest at least double.
2 x serpae tetras. Again, 6+

Sorry. I know even if you could get all of them you would be even more overstocked.
I have the exact same tank as you and have a small Oscar and two severum in it. I'm going to have to move them out of it. Although 350 sounds a lot you also have to think about the surface area of the tank and the corner tanks really do not have the same ammount a 5-6ft long 350ltr would have.
I would definitely remove a lot of fish from this tank, work out what is best for you and your tank. I'm afraid the silver dollars would not suit your tank, given the numbers they need and the size they get. Even the severum IMO would be better off in a longer tank. The plecs too, apart from the BN's.
I would also not add the clown loach to your tank as they again need to be in groups of 6+ and each one grows up to (and over sometimes) 14 inches and have a life span of 20+years if kept correctly. A big commitment.

I'm not all the great on stocking ammounts of fish but others on the forum will be able to suggest what's best for your tank and advise you on which fish would be better suited.

Welcome again.

Thanks for the swift reply :)

As said the plecs are going this week, all the fish I have had together since being very small in 2 seperate 200l tanks but had to move house and I only had limited space so the 350l corner tank fitted the bill perfect and so put most of my fish in there and gave the others away, they all get along absolutely fine as they have been together so long no fin nipping and the only chasing that goes on is the flying foxes.

I'd love to keep the massive numbers of the same species but i opted for variety.

I kind of agree with Micko but not on all of it. Not heard of the Cherry Barbs being aggressive before? They are usually pretty calm IME? I have kept Sevs in a Trigon 350 before and I think they are great tanks!

You are already on with rehoming the sailfins which is good. The Betta really does not belong in there, and the silver tip tetras are too small to keep with the Sev long term - probs same with the Cherry Barbs.

There are other problems in there and if your thinking of shuffling fish around I would just go for it, merging 2 tanks is never easy and its best to keep fish you really want properly rather than some you really want and others that you just kind of want - fish tanks are expensive and someone else is always going to want them :)

For me I would do

1 x Gold Severum
2 x Pearl Gourami
2 x Thick Lipped Gourami
3 x Male Sailfin Mollies
5 x Scissor Tails OR 5 x Silver Dollars (maybe one or two more of either)
1 x Upside Down Cat
2 x Bristlenoses Plecs
2 x Flying Foxes
3 x Hoplo Cats,
6 x Corydoras Vittatus (if you can find them)
6 x Albino and Bronze Cories (same species - different colours so good to mix really)

I think that is a fair combo of what you have - I knocked off quite a bit though without knowing which is your favorites so dont take this as set in stone but I think its a more realistic stocking and its still a great tank. Main one I did take off were the kissing gourami as they do get huge! And a trio of them with your Sev really will be too much.

Also when planning a stock list forget totally what the size the fish are at the moment and take into account of average size of a fish as most aquarium specimens will not reach maximum size - so the Sev for example a wild green in an ideal setting with the right diet can reach over 12 inches where as a farm bred Gold in mixed quarters with commercial food (this is no judgement on you btw just the way things are for a lot of people) will probably make 9/10 inches and not get the same girth.

Hope thats helped

The only reason I said cherry barbs were aggressive was through my own experience with them. I had 10, 12 at one point but found them to be really aggressive toward my other fish I had in the tank.
Going back a good while now so I cannot remeber exactly what was in the tank but I know there was a few mollies, serpaes and black widows, there were others in there too.
Needless to say I re-homed them. I'm not saying they all are but I know mine were so I'd always edge with caution.

Would you really suggest keeping the severum wills? I'm not saying your wrong as none of my severum are fully grown nor have I kept a fully grown one yet. I just believed it would be too small, especially with other fish given the surface area of the tank.

Slightly off topic but how many severum alone would you suggest keeping in the said tank?

I have to disagree with you on the silver dollars, fully grown they're beasts

Spotted silver dollars are smaller and better looking imo so I would go with these over their cousins. But then again the scissortails would look great!

Yeah I think the Trigons are decent enough for a large cichlid like a Severum, but only one. The big base is probably more natural than a long tank and its got a lot of turning room rather than in some long tanks.

Silver Dollars are a big fish when adult - but there are a handful of species in there so quite variable as to what you get. But I would probably go for the scissortails

Thanks for the opinions guys, appreciate it. Plecs are going tomorrow, probably followed by the kissers and maybe the silver tips and betta.
