One of my female guppy started showing white "cotton"like stuff on her body. Looks like a sort of fungus and I've read that it can be treated with salt.

How would I go about doing this?

I don't want to add salt in my tank but I have a little bowl (1/2 gallon) I can use for the treatment but I just don't know how much salt to put in and how long to put her in there for??

I really don't want to lose her :-(

wouldnt happen to be white spots because thats ich and that would suck to have in your tank because you cant get the it out w/o complete water change... and there stuff at your lfs to treat it

I would give her a salt bath I tablespoon to a gallon 5 litres, and if you have no scaless fish add some salt to the tank aswell and some melafix.

I'll get salt tomorrow then as the only lfs open at this time only has 20 pound bags of saquarium salt.

I'll go try out different stores around here, there must be a dozen

Doesn't have to be an aquarium salt. Canning salt, marine aquarium salt, and table salt works just as well. You should be able to find canning salt at supermarket dirt cheap. You could also use table salt, but I'm a little concerned with the effect of anticaking agent.

Actually, it has to be non-iodized salt, or marine salt.
