how do you move the fish and the fish tank from one place(city or state) to another? :-(

Yeah, depending on the tank size, lots of buckets, bins, water, and of course... Towels!

when I moved my tank I first went to LFS and blagged several of their bags (plastic and paper) I drained about half the water into my water changing 25lt carbouys. I then caught all the fish and put them (in species) in the bags as they do in the shop. Put them all together in an insulated cool box to retain warmth. Then drained the rest of the water into carbouys. The tank was then loaded on flat surface and secured. 1 fast drive later and a reversal of the above and voila, not a lost fish. I am guessing you have nothing too big in your 20 gallon-er?

Depends, if its cross town, sure. If its longer, might wanna split them up a bit. Make sure you keep your filter damp and your gravel wet as well to keep the bacteria alive.

no, but can i put all of my 40 fish in one bag?
You can put all the fish in a biggish bag for the shortest while.........40! in a 20 gallon-er, double   but I think I am right in saying that you will be best to call in at your LFS and let them take a few off you hands  Have you not heard of the 1" of fish to a gallon of water :/ so unless 20 odd are fry at this stage, you are over stocked my friend :X

lol, but can you put them in a cooler with the filter
IF YOU MEAN A COOL BOX THEN YES. IF IT KEEPS COLD IN THEN IT WILL ALSO KEEP WARMTH IN! YOUR FILTER JUST NEEDS TO BE KEPT IN TANK WATER TOO, MOIST AND AIREATED. THE LESS TIME IN TRANSPORTATION THE BETTER

Depending on the type of fish, yo can place more than one fish in the bag IF and only IF they are the same species and are peaceful, like tetras, rasboras. Fishes like angels MUST be individually bagged.

1. Collect about 10 gallons of clean fresh water and add dechlorinator.
2. Catch and bag your fish. It's best to individually bag your fish, so there's no aggression or fighting, since they will be in a confined space. Smaller, peaceful fish like tetras can be kept more than 1 in a bag. Double bag is the best. If the wheather is cold in your area, you should put all the fish in a cooler.
3. Put your substrate in a container with the tank water to be moved to the new location
4. Put your media from the filter in a container with the tank water to be moved to the new location.
5. Remove the rest of the equipment.
6. Collet the rest of the tank water.

Once you get to the new location...
1. Setup the tank and add the new and old tank water.
2. Setup the filters and decor and heater.
3. Float the bags in the water.
4. Release the fish.

The reason I suggest using the same water from your current location instead of the new location, it will give the fish an easier time to acclimate, since it's the same water they came from. If the water from the new place is different, acclimating will take longer and could further stress the fish.
