Ever since I discovered my new tank of fish got infected with ICK from the pet shop  , I noticed my Clown Loaches are sleeping vertically in a corner beside the filter, with their head pointing upwards. And when they come out, I can see through them! :hyper: Like they are semi-transparent and I can see their backbone, blook vessel, guts etc.

Are the two things normal?

Juvinile Clown loaches can look like this. They must be small one's that you have Feline? A wide range of Loaches seem to look scaleless and can possibly be this but my opinion is that they have very small tight scales that makes them look as if it's almost skin.

Yes Graeme, they are small and they've only spent 5 nights in my tank up to now. They measure only 4-5 cm!

But is it normal for them to sleep vertically? They did this inside the castle ornament I bought, looked as if they were stuck inside. So when I removed it, they still sleep vertically beside the filter!

Clowns are known to sleep in any position, in my old tank, mine slept vertical inside a crevice in one of the tank ornaments.

btw, might be an idea to take the hamsters out of the tank unless they can scuba dive. (sorry couldn't resist)

Yeah they sleep in asorts of positions. Vertically,on their side's,upside down, etc. You name it and i bet they've done it.

Ginger's working hours are from 2am - 9am so I'll have no idea if he's adopted this newly hobby of scuba diving! :alien: But he's sure interested in watching the fishies (from outside the tank)

yep ive seen them sleep vertically plecs like doing this also sometimes perhaps if you put in a nice horizontal peice of bogwood they would hide under it sometimes.

Yup, that's what I bought yesterday. Well, not exactly, but it's a horizontal wood-like thingie made by fibre glass (I think). And they finally discovered it tonight, yet still not sleeping inside. Oh well, at least now I know this is a normal thing for them. Thanks for saving me from insanity! :alien:
