I have been trying to get my Tyre-track to take non live foods, but he's just not having it. I have even tried slipping frozen bloodworm in with the blackworm, this fish just does not understand that the stuff is FOOD!

On the plus side he hand feeds well, eagerly taking shrimp and worms from my fingers. I want to add more variety to his diet, already I gut load the shrimp with algae wafers and I know the worms are nutritious. I also have 8 mollies and no fry, I'm sure he gets those too.

Allowing him to go hungry in effort to accept frozen food will not work either, he will probably start taking down the mollies and SAEs.

i haven't had the same problem with my bichir, so i can't relate. try feeding teh frozen food just like you are with the live, straight from your hand.

He won't take chopped mussel, smelt, or mealworms (live) from my hand even now, spoiled little fish :sly: .

i have a fire eel and he only eats earthworms.had him over a year.if thats what he likes, then that's what i give him.my cichlids tryed biting his face and he would'nt eat for 3 weeks,so when your fish stop eating, your just glad they start again, what ever the food is.i'd just leave him eating what he likes.eel's are quite hard to get off live foods.
