well.. my oldest boy, boo, has built this beautiful and huge bubblenest. it is time to do a 100% WC but i don't want to ruin all his hard work! actually, he's quite protective of it. when i go near his tank he automatically goes to "protect" his bubblenest and flares at me.

so if anyone has any good ideas of transferring the bubblenest that would be great!!!!

thanks a lot!!! :)

The bubbles are extremely sticky, so you can just pick it up with your hands, move it to another container, do your water change and then move it back. You'll lose a little of it, but for the most part it should stick together

I scoop it out with a plastic spoon. After water change, I stick the spoon into the water and shake it a little, the bubbles will go to the sides.

Wow, y'all are nice to your boys. I dump the water and tell them to get crackin' on a new one...

Mine realized their bubblenest creations are in vain. The current in their tanks pop the bubbles and they start creating them almost immediately...

lol cation..me too!! If they are not spawning, there is no reason for me to save the nest. I see no reason why it would hurt to transfer the nest, I just never have. Right now, I am down to 14 males, and that would be a lot of bubbles getting moved around. I had at least a hundred males this spring..woohoo forget the bubbles.. :D

well... my attempt in salvaging his bubblenest wasn't very good. i only got about 1/4 of it. he was a bit stressed when i was scooping the bubblenest out. he would swim around right underneath it as if to say 'mom, you are just too careless....'

If you use the half cup suggested in the pinned article, you could use it to scoppup the nest and move it. ;)
