Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my current set up to a larger system.

Is it best to put live rock into the new tank and let it aclimatise before introducing the old set up?

I would welcome any advice on how to transfer between the two tanks.

Are you buying new live rock? i assume that you will be due to the increased water volume.

I would...add the new rock and allow this time to make sure there is no ammonia, nitrite presant. Then you could go move your existing rock and stock accross all in one go. You could even move the water too. Or move it all accross then add live rock in small quantities until you reach the amount you want - this is how i did mine.

You are basically cloning your current tank then.

One thing i would say though, make sure theres fresh phos remover to try and stop alage blooms. Make sure you have a large-sih water change ready just incase something goes wrong. monitor it quite closely for the first couple of weeks.

Thanks for the advice.

Would you need to drip the fish and corals to aclimatise them to the new tank with having a larger water volume?

No, as long as the sg is the same in both tanks you can just put them straight in :good:
