Top view livebearer paddle pool

Overhere a video of my livebearer paddle pool. At the moment there are bluetail splitfins (Ataeniobius toweri), sailfin mollies (Poecilia latipinna), yucatan swordtails (Xiphophorus yucatan), Rio Tefé wild guppies (Poecilia reticulata) from Brazil, gudgeon (Gobio gobio) and three shubinkins in there. Mind that this combination works. The bigger fish are leaving the fry of any kind alone in this pool. The size of their enviroment makes them not interested in those swimming fry.

How do you prevent predators like birds or cats from killing the fish?

In all those years that I keep fish like these outdoors, no harm has been done by predators. With this pool for instance, the cats of the neighbours only watch from a distance. They're so scared to fall into the pool. Cats seem to hate water...
At the other tubs, some birds only hop by to take a bath. Or even drink. That's all...

No.
Technically, guppies and mollies can crossbreed. But if you keep both genders of both species in one enviroment, no crossbreeding will happen. For females will chose to mate with males of their own kind in that case, no matter how often a male of the other species tries to mate. For the female decides wether she allows a male to mate with her or not.
