Hi,

Im looking to get some top level swimmers for my tank. i currently have 3 cories, 4 black phantoms and 1 dwarf gouramis. The phantoms and dwarf gouramis spend 90% of the time at mid level to bottom so im in need for something to occupy the top more.

Can anyone advise on a good top level small fish group. I can only get a maximum for 4 to complete my stocking. I was thinking either harlequin Rasbora, zebra danio's or lemon tetra's (are these even top dwellers?). Any other good tetra's or other idea's ?

Cheers

How about Hatchet Fish? There are different kinds, but they are top level dwellers, and depending on your tank size, would definitely add some interest.

Oops they do need to be in groups of 6 I believe. but maybe a possibility if your aquarium is 2ft plus>

im gonna add another vote for hatchet fish cool little fish . if you want something a bit different

Tank is only 12 gallons so it's not a whopper in size but it's certainly big enough for just a few more to be added to my current stock.

Im not convinced by hatchet fish, they are very strange looking dudes. Danio's do appeal to me however. How about a couple of honey gouramis, are they top level ? and would they be ok with my current dwarf goramis?

Honey Gouramies tend to prefer mid to bottom levels.
Danios like plenty of swimming space and 20G is the ideal minimum size.

Mmmm Getting difficult. Would be too small for Hatchet Fish anyway.

how about 2 male Guppies? Colourful, and swim everywhere
