This may sound like a crazy question - but is it safe to use toothpaste in an aquarium? I have a few very light scratches in the glass (light enough that I can't feel them). I've removed scratches in glass like this before with toothpaste...however. Is toothpaste harmful to fish?

I wouldnt think so ( sound a bit skitty here, if so sorry) but the fact that its used to kill microscopic bacteria etc on your teeth and in your mouth, its probably going to do a lot more damage to the fish in your tank.

Id say putting toothpaste in your tank = death of fish!

Do you mean wilst the tank is empty?, I mean ive used a mild bleach mix before now to kill stuff of and clean when i brought a second hand tank, as long as it drys out well them clean it with water solution i think you should be ok, unless someone knows for sure,

Problem is I can't really empty the tank.

However I can lower the level of the water down below the level of the scratches. However, I'm pretty certain some toothpaste would end up in the tank.

Also, I'd be using Tom's of Maine Toothpaste which has all natural ingrediants. Mainly, Xylitol, propolis & myrrh.

EDIT: Turns out Propolis is used in Koi food, so that just leaves myrrh and xylitol.

just dont use aquafresh whitening foam, they'll look like they have rabies forever lol!
