ok serious prob due to my stupidity. i used to have clear eggcrate like (plastic) covers to stop my fish jumping out. i recently started taking these off while the lights are on (metal halides). now due to this sudden increase in light some of my coral ( trumpet and candy cane) have started to shrink. to the point that the skeleton is showing. how can i help them recover before they completly die. water quality is good because all my other corals are doing well and infact my leathers and duncan are loving the higher light. my current plan is to put the plastic back on on slowly takke it off after the corals have recovered. any ideas of how i can help the coral recover quicker?

its called light shock, when a coral is used to one level of light and you increase it quickly they get shocked. putting the plastic back on then taking it off when they get better will just do the same again.

move the halides up and put the corals on the sand then slowly move it down over a few weeks. then re-place the corals

they have always been on the sandbed and the light is as high as it will go. once they heal i will acclimate them to the light slowly.

And how many watts is the MH?
If they're already on the sandbed, you could try putting them in the shade under a rock a little bit, and slowly move them back into the light.
