I have bought a timer for my tank as per the advice of another member on here, and I wanted to know if I could ever have too much light?

I was advised to have at least 10 hours of light if I have plants and I do, but I would like to have the light turn on at 8... so when I feed them they have some light and turn off at like 10 at night...that way I can enjoy them in the night. That is about 14 hours of light. Is this too much?

Thanks.

Hey,

I wonder if it was my advice?

:)

I should think that would be ok. As long as there is a reasonable amount of darkness then IMO that's fine. Do you have any nocturnal fish?

I have my lights on from 10:00 to 10:30 in my 19US and 41US but my biggest tank as the normal light from 10:00 - 21:00 but a blue light from 21:00 - 00:30, totalling 14 and a hlaf hours and my fish seem fine. Fair enough the blue light is pretty dark for the fish but I still think it counts. And that's with me having nocturnals.

I think that was you. Thanks for the advice!!!

I have no nocturnals, just my 2 little Red Swordtails so far.

Thanks.
