it's a 10 gallon tank, when I bought it it includes the filter you see on the left. I wanted a undergravel filter so I bought it along with a penguin 550 (it says it's 145gph). I set it up where the current blow against the plant and doesn't seem like it's bothering the tetras. I really like those black spotted pictus catfish so I'll buy them once the tank finish cylcing.

1) I was wondering if there are too much current? filter on the left and powerhead hidden behind the plant to the right.
2) is there too much plants? they're all live plants by the way
3) my undergravel filter doesn't seem complete. It cames with 2 cheimical filters which requires an air pump... should I get the air pump or do I have more than enough filters already? :/

The setup looks fine. You might want to remove some of that bush you got there on the right. Just the front portion. It's leaving a visual darkspot. And why so many filters?

Em well the current wont be to much of a problem as long as you get fish that will be ok with it like as you said tetras but if u get a catfish with the under gravel filter it might not be a good idea cause any pellets u drop down might just get sucked it to the stones and if u breed ur fish the fry could get sucked into the stones and die:rip:, 2 . U can never have to many real plants so thats fine having all them it provids food for certain fish too. 3 . if u wan to get the air pump u can but i think with those undergravel filter u can attach a straw like thing to the pump which goes from the outside of the the tank to the filter and sucks air in from the outside which makes bubbles!! :hey:

Hi Loveless :)

You have a beautiful tank there, and I'm sure it will make a happy home for some fish. A pictus catfish, however, is not one of them.

Your tank is too small for this fish and it is a predator that will eat small fish such as tetras. Also, the rocks on the bottom are too large and will damage the barbels of any catfish you put in it.

Here is a link about the fish:

Most anarchis you buy from petstores has pond snails in it. Be careful not to let them get out of hand. (if that is even anarchis) Usually it just comes in a bundle tied with a rubberband. If this is the same with yours, remove some and spread it around the back wall of your tank to make a background for them. Anarchis also floats so you could let some float if you want. Anarchis doesn't really root so you can just pull it apart and it will live just fine floating or barely covered with gravel... hope that helps. That plant in the back that looks like amazon sword plant should be moved more toward the front because it won't look as dark cuz there is more room between the leaves. Also, you should take it out of that little container and plant it. It would look better and not stand as tall. A smaller substrate choice would have made for better anchors and growing room for the plants.

Also, what kind of tetras do you have and how many? It's kind of hard to say what to add if I don't know what fish you already have.

well i got another 20 tank from petco, cost me 109+ tax but I figured it's cheaper since it came with the biowheel and it would be cheaper to get the combo than getting everything seperate. i got 5 gallon from the old tank, the other 15 gallon from the sink and put water conditioner in it. But I guess my tetras didn;t like the move and 3 of them are lying on their sides.

Hi lolly3114 :)

Please make a thread of your own so that people can reply to Loveless here. If you do, everyone will see it and you will get the attention your good question deserves.

Hi Loveless :)

I'm glad your fish made it through the night.

As to sand, there are many different kinds that fishkeepers use. I myself prefer fine gravel since I've been using it for so long, but someday I'll definitely make the switch. If you plan to use sand for the catfish, the main requirement is that it have rounded--not sharp--edges.

It might be a good idea to start a new thread with this question rather than keep it buried under this topic. You will surly get many good replies.
