I've got 3 8 uk Gallon Tanks, and the lfs kindly upgraded for free ( :D ) the Fluval 104 for Fluval 204's.

However

the flow created by the 204's even when on the minimum setting and pointed towards the nearest wall makes the tanks have an incredible current which the fish don't seem to like

Any ideas how i can stop the tanks having such a strong current - can i put loads of plants or rock in front of the 'jet' or will that hamper the tank cycling the water properly.......

I have a spray bar on my 404 but the current is still fairly strong.

You could drill holes in the outlet thingy so that the water is not all coming out of one hole and that way spreading the force in different directions.

Thanks for the help - i take it that try to disrupt the flow of water with rocks and plants is not a good idea? -_-

Blocking the flow is an option, it will disperse the water differently.

I think that despite the free upgrade the 104 is a much more suitable size for those little tanks.

the your fluval filter must be faulty, because on the lowest setting the water flow stops, its also used so that u can dissconnect the pipes for filter cleaning , i have the same filter , so this is the only conclusion that can be drawn from this ?

failing that get a spray bar kit , and use the full lenth of the kit to span the entire length of your tank , this will also reduce the water force
