too many guppies???????????/

my uncle took my 2 sons to lfs to get 6 guppies, they came back with 11, cos the lfs netted this many. we have 12 guppies in the tank now cos we got a free fry in the bag last week with a purchase. the guppies are varying sizes but i'm worried we have far too many in the tank now.

what should i do

lol is this really a problem?

as a preditory fish keeper I would suggest using them as live food, but as a community fish owner I would suggest you leave them as they are or swap any unwanted ones with your LFS

well put the 5 guppies you dont want in the bag they came and exchange them or kill them and take them back a get a store credit just dont make it visable you killed them (wrape them in a wet papper towel and freeze them)

Mommy guppies will eat their own fry(depending on the size), so will probably some of the fish in your tank(fry are a delicacy to most fish). Also some fry will get sucked up the filter too. If the fry are edible size BUT your giving them hiding places, most will survive and multiply.

ID say ur best option is to bring them back to the lfs, i have that qouted because he says to kill them why u can just bring them back to the shop, thats like havin to many human babies we have to many kill 2 please. but u can bring babies back to the shop!

cant see why you cant take them back, did youi have to pay for the others even tho you wanted just 6, if so thats pants. take them back say there are so many and cant cope, my lfs takes unwanted fish off of people

ummmm no chance I would do that, not only is it a wastefull death to the guppys, it is also rude to your LFS....



and if it is a 10g with 12 guppys - I see no problem anyway
