TO REMOVE OR NOT TO REMOVE THAT IS THE QUESTION? (BIOWHEEL)

I have been hearing a few folks online that removing the biowheel "the weird looking spinning wheel on the back" of the stock filter is an ok thing to do or even necessary to get the nitrates down.

Can I get some confirmation on this? The tank has been established for over 1month and has corals and fish.

Thanks all
TIM

I have always thought they were crap. Nothing like a good skimmer , live rock and a water change from time to time.

it has been done, thanks guys

i plan on checking the nitrates tomorrow night. I figured a 2day wait is good enough
thx
